Estate Agents CAN continue working through Lockdown 3.0 Posted On 05 January 2021

 

With the third lockdown upon us, it has been confirmed that the property market in England can remain open

 

Last night, Boris Johnson announced a third national lockdown to tackle the new variant of COVID-19 that has seen a massive surge in cases throughout the country. The lockdown officially begins on Wednesday and the government has confirmed that:

 

You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary. Estate and letting agents and removals firms can continue to work. If you are looking to move, you can go to property viewings.

 

Having reopened mid-2020, estate agents already have to follow government guidance in regards to social distancing and thus have practices in place to ensure all viewings and valuations are carried out safely and in accordance to the rules.

 

With the property market experiencing record-breaking movement last year, this is welcome news not just for estate agents but to anyone looking to rent or buy in 2021. 2020 brought some modifications to searching for a property including virtual viewings and valuations which have helped keep the market strong and agents are always looking for new ways to make the process as smooth and safe as possible for everyone involved.

 

And to keep everyone safe while doing so, follow these guidelines:

 

  • Always remember to wash your hands frequently.
  • Keep to a minimum of 2m distance at all times.
  • Wear a face covering.
  • Do the initial viewing virtually if possible.
  • Viewings on appointment only.
  • Open internal doors and ensure surfaces are clean on viewings.
  • Vendor vacates the property during a viewing.

 

Removal firms are also still working while following social distancing guidelines. However, where possible, it is recommended that you pack your own belongings.
